Okay, so it's in the 20's at night in Austin at this writing. That’s unusual. Austin temperatures are running considerably below normal. While the weather is not the most dramatic subject, it is one of the things I absolutely love about Austin. We have great weather and most Austinites wear shorts year round. The weather is one of the main attractors that causes so many people to move the area.
According to USClimateData.com, the average high temperature in Austin is 79.8 and the Average low temperature is 59. With a year round average of 69.4. And while the current temp is below what everyone would like, normally, the weather is great in Austin. Even in the middle of winter.
According to RSSWeather.com, the Average low in January is 40 and the average high is 60. So we are currently about 20 degrees below the January average. But getting down in the 20’s for a few days every five or ten years is something most people can live with.
The average high temperature starts to creep up to around 72 in March and by June the average high is 92 degrees. By August, our hottest month, the average high reaches 97 and drops each month through the end of the year and into January.
The weather is one of the things that allows Austinites to spend so much time outdoors and is a huge factor in getting Austin rated so high in so many quality of life articles and polls.
If you truly love Austin, you must love spending time outdoors. Spending time outdoors whether it be visiting our many parks or swimming holes, or engaging in outdoor sports or concerts, is one of the things that is a bond between those of us who live in and love Austin.
