As we have finally reached the gorgeous Spring weather we have all been waiting for, the event season is now in full swing!  Whether your wanting to dress up for Austin's Fashion Week or strap on the running shoes for the Cap City 10K there is a lot happening in April and May.  Below we have put together a list of our favorite events each weekend of April and May, if we missed anything comment with your favorite below.

What I Love About Austin ~ The University of Texas

UT has long been a strong influence in Austin as well as the State of Texas.  The University of Texas, in Austin, currently has more than 51,000 students enrolled and more than 3,000 faculty members.

It creates more than $9 billion in business activity and UT football alone generates more than $120 million in revenue each year. 

The net effect on the community is tremendous. It influences everything from the availability of entertainment to the food that restaurants serve. You can hardly go to dinner during football season without overhearing someone discussing the upcoming game.  Austin would probably not be the, “Live Music Capital”, without the presence of UT.  It brings culture, knowledge and a highly educated work force to Austin.  And this

The February 2018 Central Texas Housing Market Report showed that while home sales volume across the Austin-Round Rock Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) grew in February, areas with the highest market demand and lowest inventory experienced double-digit percent price increases and annual declines in sales activity.

 

In the Austin-Round Rock MSA, home sales increased 5.7 percent year-over-year in February 2018 to 1,955 sales. The median price of single-family homes increased 3.6 percent to $299,900. Housing inventory remained flat at 2.0 months, the same as last February.

City of Austin

In the city of Austin, the median price for single-family homes increased 12.2 percent to $367,701 year-over-year in February. Single-family home sales

Texas ranks as the No. 1 state for corporate relocations and expansions for the sixth year in a row, according to Site Selection magazine.

Ohio followed with 467 new facilities that opened in 2017, the Atlanta-based magazine said in its annual Governor's Cup report, issued March 5.

However, when population is taken into consideration, Nebraska is the overall No. 1 state cake with 110 projects per capita.

Within Texas, the Houston metro is far and away the leader for corporate relocations and expansions. It ranked No. 2 in the nation in 2017 with 196 new and expanded facilities. Austin didn't rank nationally and came in No. 5 regionally in the South Central United States with 51 projects.

The, "What I Love About Austin", blog has been published for seventeen months now.  There are so many things to love about Austin and we try to capture those things in this monthly blog.  We thought it was time to do a recap of the last year’s, “What I Love About Austin”, blogs.  Whether it’s what brings someone to visit Austin, move here, or stay here, here is what we’ve blogged about in the past seventeen months.
