It's official the summer heat is upon us in Austin, TX. With the kids out of school and 100 degree temperatures on the way, we've rounded up some of our favorite places to coll of in and around Austin and Central Texas. Each one of these spots brings something special to the table from the infamous Barton Springs to Hamilton Pool on the western outskirts of town. In no particular order here are some of our favorites!
Barton Springs Pool
The 68-degree water is an Austin favorite for runners and bikers on the Town Lake Trail to the overheated tourist.
Deep Eddy Pool
Deep Eddy Pool is just on the otherside of Lady Bird Lake west of Barton Springs, just as historic, fed by the same spring, and generally more peaceful.
Hamilton Pool Nature Preserve
You now are required to make a reservation at this pool which can be done here. This is a must visit spot for all Austinites and visitors alike, the gorgeous falls are especially worth seeing after a hard rain!
Barton Creek Greenbelt
Although during the dog days of summer much of the greenbelt does go dry after heavy rains or during Spring and Fall this is a favorite spot for people to take a dip our take their four legged companion for a hike. With Access points across Austin it is perfect no matter where you live!
With 32 springs, two pools, and a butterfly garden, it's as close to a fairy tale oasis as we have in Central Texas!
San Marcos River
Just 30 minutes south of Austin the San Marcos river is a great retreat for those looking to tube, kayak or fish! With the spring fed clear water this river is a true treat for all.
